RAM 1500 SXT Quad Cab 4x4 6'4" | 5.7L HEMI | 3.92 anti-spin axle | Trailer brake | 17" alloys |2018 RAM 1500 SXT Quad Cab 4x4 5.7L HEMI, a 6'4" box equipped to tow
A HEMI-powered RAM 1500 4x4 with an integrated trailer brake controller and a long box protected by a spray-in bedliner is exactly what plenty of buyers in the Beauce region are looking for. This 2018 SXT brings all of that together without making you pay for leather or a big screen. Put into service on November 18, 2018, it shows 81,425 km, or about 10,400 km per year, moderate mileage for its age. It came to us as a trade-in at the dealership, so it did not come from an auction, and it is in stock at Daniel Paré, in the Beauce region.
5.7L HEMI V8, six-speed automatic and 3.92 axle
The 5.7L HEMI V8 with variable valve timing produces 395 horsepower (291 kW) at 5,600 rpm and 410 lb-ft (556 N·m) of torque at 3,950 rpm. It is one of the most widespread V8 engines in North America. Cylinder deactivation lets it run on four cylinders under light cruise, then brings all eight back as soon as you accelerate or pull a load.
The 65RFE six-speed automatic, a proven transmission our technicians know well, works here with a 3.92 rear axle, the most tow-friendly of the three ratios offered that year. The anti-spin rear differential, also an option, sends torque to the rear wheel with more grip when the other one slips, a genuine advantage on an icy driveway or a wet gravel road.
The electronically controlled part-time transfer case lets you shift into 4WD on the move, and its 2.64:1 low range helps pull a trailer out of soft ground or climb a steep sugar-bush road. At the rear, the five-link suspension uses coil springs rather than leaf springs, and the shock absorbers are heavy-duty front and rear.
Towing: the numbers and the equipment
Numbers from the 2018 Stellantis towing chart, established under the SAE J2807 standard, for this exact configuration, meaning Quad Cab 4x4, 6'4" box, 5.7L HEMI V8, six-speed automatic and 3.92 axle:
· Maximum trailer weight of 10,220 lb (4,636 kg)
· Gross combined weight rating of 15,950 lb (7,235 kg)
A rating on paper only matters if the truck is equipped to use it. This one is:
· Factory Class IV hitch receiver
· Integrated trailer brake controller in the dashboard, with no aftermarket box added later
· 7-pin connector for electric trailer brakes, in addition to the 4-pin harness
· 3.92 axle and anti-spin rear differential
· 121 L fuel tank, ordered as an option in place of the 98 L tank
Travel trailer, boat or ATV trailer heading to Massif du Sud, it is ready as soon as you hitch up. Above 5,000 lb (2,268 kg), a weight-distributing hitch is recommended.
Quad Cab and 6'4" box
Let us be clear about the Quad Cab: its rear doors are shorter than a Crew Cab's, and rear legroom is 34.7 in. (881 mm), compared with 40.3 in. (1,023 mm) in a Crew Cab. The rear bench works well for kids and short trips with adults, and an under-seat storage compartment keeps tools out of sight.
In return, you get the 6'4" box, the only box offered with the Quad Cab. It measures 76.3 in. (1,938 mm) at the floor with the tailgate closed and 51 in. (1,295 mm) between the wheelhouses, for 57.5 cu. ft. (1.6 m³) of volume, so a 4-foot-wide sheet of plywood lies flat between the wheelhouses. The spray-in bedliner is in place, a protection that handles impacts and moisture far better than a drop-in mat, and the tailgate locks. With a 140.5 in. (3,569 mm) wheelbase, the truck is also 9 in. (228 mm) shorter between the axles than a Crew Cab with the same box length.
SXT looks
The SXT package sets it apart from a base truck: chrome front and rear bumpers, 17-inch aluminium wheels instead of steel wheels, remote keyless entry and carpet instead of vinyl flooring. On Diamond Black Crystal Pearl-Coat paint, the chrome stands out clearly. Optional fog lamps, automatic halogen headlamps and tinted glass complete a classic look without excess. The original 17-inch aluminium wheels are still in place.
On board: simple, durable and built for winter
The black cabin has a 40/20/40 front bench in Diesel Grey cloth that seats three up front, for six seats in total. It is not leather, and we would rather say so, but cloth has one advantage you appreciate in January: it is never ice-cold to the touch. The equipment is what you use every day:
· Air conditioning and cruise control
· Power windows with front one-touch and power door locks
· Tilt steering column and manually adjusted seats
· Engine block heater, precious for cold-weather starts
· 12-volt auxiliary power outlet
It has no heated seats, no remote start and no power seats, and none of that equipment appears on its original window sticker.
Technology: the essentials, without a touchscreen
Radio 3.0 offers AM/FM, SiriusXM satellite radio (subscription required), six speakers, a remote USB port and an audio input jack for mobile devices. The electronic vehicle information centre displays vehicle data in the instrument cluster. The ParkView rear back-up camera, ordered as an option with an auto-dimming rearview mirror, makes hitching a trailer and reversing much easier.
Let us be frank: there is no touchscreen, no built-in navigation, no Apple CarPlay and no Android Auto, and Bluetooth hands-free calling does not appear on the original window sticker. For a work truck, that also means fewer electronic components to maintain over the years.
Safety
· Six air bags, including side curtain air bags and front seat-mounted side air bags
· Electronic stability control and four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes
· Tire pressure monitoring
· Back-up camera, automatic headlamps and fog lamps
· Sentry Key engine immobilizer
In the interest of transparency, it has no advanced driver aids such as collision warning, blind-spot monitoring or adaptive cruise control.

Frequently asked questions
What sets this SXT apart from a base RAM 1500?
In its base configuration, this model rides on steel wheels, with a heavy-duty vinyl bench and vinyl flooring. The SXT package replaces all of that with 17-inch aluminium wheels, a 40/20/40 cloth bench and carpet, and adds chrome bumpers, remote keyless entry and SiriusXM satellite radio. This truck was also ordered with the 3.92 axle, the anti-spin differential, the trailer brake controller, fog lamps, the back-up camera and the larger fuel tank.
What is a 5.7L HEMI V8 worth at 81,425 km?
It is an engine with easy-to-find parts, one that technicians know inside out and whose maintenance is predictable. At about 10,400 km per year since November 2018, this truck has seen moderate use. Following the oil change intervals with the recommended oil remains the best way to keep it healthy for a long time.
How much fuel does it use?
Official EnerGuide ratings for this version, 4x4, 5.7L V8 and six-speed automatic, are 18.7 L/100 km city, 13.3 L/100 km highway and 16.3 L/100 km combined. It is a truck V8, and we would rather show those numbers as they are. Mid-grade 89 octane fuel is recommended, with regular 87 octane acceptable, and the 121 L tank spaces out stops at the pump.
How much can it tow, and with what equipment?
The Stellantis chart rates this exact combination of cab, box, engine, transmission and axle at 10,220 lb (4,636 kg). The Class IV hitch receiver, integrated brake controller and 7-pin connector are already in place. Tongue weight, passengers and cargo must still stay within the load capacity shown on the driver's door label. We can check your combination with you before you buy.
How does its four-wheel drive work in winter?
It is a part-time system: you drive in rear-wheel drive on dry pavement, then engage 4WD High on the move as soon as the road turns snowy or icy. Since there is no centre differential, you go back to rear-wheel drive on dry asphalt. The anti-spin rear differential helps even in rear-wheel drive, and the block heater makes cold starts easier. Dedicated winter tires are still strongly recommended on a pickup with an empty box.
How much warranty is left on this truck?
Put into service on November 18, 2018, this truck is past the time limit of the factory basic and powertrain warranties. The major emissions component warranty remains active until November 18, 2026 or 130,000 km, and a factory extension covers the fuel tank strap bracket until November 18, 2030, with no mileage limit. No extended warranty is attached, but our team can present the protection plans available at purchase. In Quebec, it falls into category D, and the legal warranty of quality still applies.
Are there open recalls, and what happens at delivery?
Every vehicle is checked in the Stellantis system before delivery, and any applicable recall is performed at no charge by our certified shop, on top of our pre-delivery inspection. You can ask us to run that check in front of you before you commit.
Why buy this truck from you rather than elsewhere?
Because a 2018 RAM whose main factory warranties have expired deserves a shop that knows the HEMI and the 65RFE transmission, equipped with wiTECH and Mopar parts, and because our Sainte-Marie and Saint-Malachie locations put service less than thirty minutes from most municipalities in the Beauce.
