Under the sport performance hood sits the 6.7L Cummins turbo diesel inline six with high-pressure common-rail injection. It produces 370 horsepower (276 kW) and, more importantly, 850 lb-ft (1,152 N·m) of torque at 1,700 rpm, which moves a heavy trailer without making the engine scream, uphill or from a standstill. Its selective catalytic reduction emissions system uses diesel exhaust fluid.

The 68RFE six-speed automatic, with dual filtration and a bandless design that reduces maintenance, includes a Tow/Haul mode that adapts shift points under load. The 11.5-inch rear axle uses a 3.73 ratio and, on this unit, the optional anti-spin rear differential. The electronic shift-on-the-fly transfer case engages 4WD on the move, with low range.

What does the Mopar extended warranty cover, and until when?
It is a 6-year or 200,000 km Mopar Vehicle Protection service contract, Gold version, active until May 31, 2029 or 200,000 km, whichever comes first. It has a zero deductible, includes roadside assistance and a rental vehicle allowance, and transfers to the next owner at no charge. Close to 100,000 km and more than two and a half years of coverage remain. The Quebec legal warranty also applies, this vehicle falling into category C.

How much can it tow, and what role does payload play?
The Stellantis chart rates this configuration at 14,620 lb (6,630 kg), calculated with a conventional hitch where tongue weight is about 10 percent of the trailer. With a fifth-wheel or gooseneck, the standard calls for about 15 percent on the bed instead, which puts more demand on the 1,940 lb (880 kg) payload, which also has to cover passengers and gear. Why does a 9,900 lb GVWR matter to businesses?
In Quebec, a road vehicle with a GVWR of 9,921 lb (4,500 kg) or more is considered a heavy vehicle, with the obligations that come with commercial use. For a work diesel, it is not a red flag, especially since the engine keeps its factory warranty until May 30, 2028 or 160,000 km and the Mopar extended warranty runs until 2029. We have verified that the engine and its emissions system are original, with no reprogramming. Plan on ultra-low sulphur diesel and diesel exhaust fluid.

How much fuel does it use?
There is no official EnerGuide rating for this model. In Canada, pickups with a gross vehicle weight rating above 8,500 lb (3,856 kg) and a box of 72 in. (183 cm) or longer are not subject to fuel consumption testing. We would rather not quote an unofficial number, since real consumption varies a lot with load and trailer.

How does it handle winter in the Beauce?
It is well equipped for our winters. Shift-on-the-fly 4WD, low range and the anti-spin rear differential help in heavy snow and on sloped driveways. Remote start, the engine block heater, heated front and rear seats and the heated steering wheel make January mornings far more bearable. Dedicated winter tires are still recommended on a truck this heavy.
