The Chrysler Pacifica occupies a spot of its own on the Quebec used market: it is the only minivan pairing all-wheel drive with seats that fold flat into the floor, and it is assembled in Windsor, Ontario, which makes it Canadian-built. At Daniel Paré Dodge Chrysler it is a favourite with families from Lévis, Quebec City, Beauce and Bellechasse, but its catalogue hides distinctions that change everything in daily use.
One generation since 2017, two styling updates
The Pacifica arrived for the 2017 model year on an all-new platform, replacing the Chrysler Town and Country. Only one generation has existed since, with no platform change: the 2021 and 2027 model years are styling updates, not new generations.
The 2021 model year is the most useful landmark: new exterior styling, all-wheel drive on a broad scale, Uconnect 5 with a standard 10.1-inch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the FamCAM interior camera, the new range-topping Pinnacle trim, a redesigned cabin, standard full LED exterior lighting, and standard automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
The 2027 update brings a new front fascia with vertical LED headlights and an illuminated grille, the new Chrysler wing badge, a revised liftgate appliqué, eight wheel designs including new 18 and 20-inch rims, new colours including Olive Green, Nappa Blue Agave leather, and the Safety Sphere package: blind spot view triggered by the turn signal, and camera activation through ParkSense. Mechanicals and platform are unchanged.
Gas or plug-in hybrid
The gas powertrain did not change between 2017 and 2027: a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 rated at 287 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 262 lb-ft at 4,000 rpm, a nine-speed TorqueFlite automatic, and a 3.25 axle ratio in front-wheel drive or 3.73 with all-wheel drive. No other engine was ever offered: no four-cylinder, no diesel, no fully electric version.
The plug-in hybrid was offered from 2017 through the 2025 model year, with 260 combined horsepower, a figure that never changed, and a two-motor electrically variable transmission. Its 16-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery, 96 cells under the second-row floor, was never modified. Electric range did change: 53 kilometres for 2017 to 2020, with 2.6 litres equivalent per 100 kilometres and 911 kilometres of total range, then roughly 51 kilometres for 2021 to 2025, with 2.9 litres equivalent per 100 kilometres and 835 kilometres combined. Range slipped slightly with the 2021 model year while the battery stayed at 16 kilowatt-hours.
It is no longer offered as of the 2026 model year: Stellantis ended its plug-in hybrid programs in North America, customer demand having shifted, to focus on other electrified solutions.
All-wheel drive, the feature that defines the search
All-wheel drive first appeared for the 2020 model year in limited numbers, on a launch edition based on the Touring L and orderable in Canada, then broadly from 2021. A transfer case takes torque at the transmission output and sends it to a rear drive module. The system stops the driveshaft when all-wheel drive is not needed, cutting drag and helping fuel economy, and it can send up to all available torque to the rear wheels or to the wheels with the most grip, with no input from the driver and seamless engagement at any speed.
All-wheel drive models also get a 3.73 axle ratio instead of 3.25, 350-millimetre front brakes instead of 330, an added rear stabilizer bar, 137 millimetres of ground clearance instead of 131, and a curb weight of 2,215 kilograms instead of 2,051, and they are always seven-seaters. The point that matters most on the used market: all-wheel drive comes only with the gas V6, since the plug-in hybrid could never be ordered with it, in any model year or market. Chrysler Canada described the all-wheel drive Pacifica as the lowest-priced seven-passenger all-wheel drive minivan in the country.
Stow 'n Go seating, where the fine print matters
Second and third-row Stow 'n Go, meaning seats that fold flat into the floor, is fitted to the vast majority of gas versions from 2017 through 2027, and Chrysler calls it exclusive in the segment. That yields 243 seating configurations on gas models, against 81 on the plug-in hybrid.
The plug-in hybrid never had second-row Stow 'n Go, in any model year, because the 16-kilowatt-hour battery pack sits exactly where the storage bins would go. It gets captain's chairs that slide, recline and can be removed by hand, but do not fold into the floor, though it does keep third-row Stow 'n Go. The Pinnacle, since its 2021 introduction, also goes without it in the second row: its integrated console leaves no room for the mechanism, and its removable captain's chairs get quilted lumbar cushions. It too keeps the third row, gas or hybrid.
The practical takeaway: a Pinnacle or a plug-in hybrid, whatever the year, has no second-row seats that fold into the floor. For that feature, look at Touring, Touring L, Touring L Plus, Limited or Select.
Trim levels and how they changed
From 2017 to 2020 the Canadian lineup ran L, LX, Touring, Touring Plus, Touring L, Touring L Plus and Limited. For 2021 the entry L and LX trims left Canada, their role passing to the Chrysler Grand Caravan, and Pinnacle arrived at the top. From 2022 to 2024 it was Touring, Touring L, Limited and Pinnacle, Touring L Plus having ended after 2021. For 2025, Touring and Touring L disappeared entirely from the Canadian lineup, Select became the entry trim, and the range narrowed to Select, Limited and Pinnacle. Hence the handiest rule of thumb: before 2025 you shop for a Touring L, and from 2025 on for a Select.
Do not confuse trims with appearance packages. S Appearance and Premium S Appearance, with blacked-out chrome, dark wheels and black trim, date from 2021 and became standard on Limited for 2025. Red S arrived for 2020 on the Limited, and Road Tripper for 2023 and 2024, with a roof rack, cargo liner and orange accents.
Technology on board
From 2017 to 2020, Uconnect systems used 5, 7 or 8.4-inch screens. From 2021 it is Uconnect 5 with a standard 10.1-inch screen, presented as the largest standard screen in the segment. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were available from 2017 with the 8.4-inch screen, wired, and wirelessly from 2021.
Uconnect Theatre dates from the 2017 launch: two 10-inch high-definition touchscreens in the front seatbacks, with built-in games plus HDMI and USB inputs. Built-in Amazon Fire TV arrived for 2022, the Pacifica being the first minivan to offer it from the factory. The FamCAM interior camera, from 2021, shows the rear rows on the centre screen, including rear-facing children, with split-screen viewing, zoom and automatic night mode.
The built-in Stow 'n Vac, developed with RIDGID, has been offered since 2017 in the cargo area wall, its hose reaching all three rows, though never on the plug-in hybrid. On audio, 2017 to 2020 brought six standard speakers, an optional 13-speaker Alpine and a 20-speaker Harman Kardon at the top. From 2021, gas models get a 19-speaker Harman Kardon with a 10-inch subwoofer, while the hybrid keeps the 20-speaker setup.
Seating, cargo, towing and safety
The Pacifica seats seven or eight, the eight-seat layout coming only in front-wheel drive on gas versions. Cargo volume reaches 915 litres behind the third row, 2,478 litres behind the second and 3,979 litres maximum.
Gas versions, front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive alike, are rated at 1,633 kilograms, or 3,600 pounds, with the trailer tow group, presented as best in class. On the plug-in hybrid, towing is not recommended and no capacity is rated: if you plan to tow, you need a gas version.
Chrysler Canada advertised more than 100 standard and available safety features from 2017 to 2020, then 116 for 2021 to 2023 and 117 for 2024. Adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward collision warning with active braking and a 360-degree camera were available from 2017, rear seat reminder arrived in 2022 and the emergency vehicle alert system in 2024.

All-wheel drive only exists from 2020, broadly from 2021, and never alongside the plug-in hybrid.
