Used Ram 1500 Classic for sale near Lévis and Quebec City

This truck's name needs a word of explanation. When Ram introduced the fifth-generation Ram 1500 for the 2019 model year, the outgoing generation stayed on the assembly line. It remained in production as the Ram 1500 Classic, an entry-level truck sold alongside the new one. These are not two trim levels of the same pickup. They are two separate vehicles, with different frames, cabs, dashboards, engines, capacities and technology. At Daniel Paré Dodge Chrysler, the Classic is the truck contractors, farmers and landscapers from the Beauce, Bellechasse and the Quebec City area ask for by name.

What the word Classic actually means

Unlike Tradesman or Warlock, Classic is not a trim designation. It identifies a complete vehicle. A truck wearing the 2021 model year, for instance, can be either a Ram 1500 or a Ram 1500 Classic. The word Classic shows up on the original build sheet, on the bill of sale and in the vehicle identification number decode.

    Which model years are involved

The Classic rides on the fourth-generation Ram 1500 platform, the same architecture as the 2016, 2017 and 2018 trucks, which simply carried the Ram 1500 name. The Classic badge runs from 2019 through 2024, the last model year offered in Canada. There is no 2025 or 2026 Classic.

The end of Canadian production was announced in the spring of 2024, and a limited final allocation followed later that year, narrowed down to a single configuration: the Warlock, crew cab, four-wheel drive, 5-foot-7 box, with either the V6 or the V8. That makes the very last Canadian Classics almost all crew-cab Warlocks.

    Engines

The 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 makes 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft. On the Classic it stayed without the eTorque system for its entire run, while the fifth-generation Ram 1500 received that mild hybrid setup starting in 2019. The 5.7-litre HEMI V8 delivers 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft, also without eTorque, and it unlocks the highest tow ratings of the truck.

The 3.0-litre EcoDiesel, 240 horsepower and 420 lb-ft, was offered on the Classic for the 2019 model year only, as a late availability. After that, only the V6 and the V8 remain, so a diesel Classic is necessarily a 2019 and is genuinely uncommon. Every engine pairs with an eight-speed automatic. No manual gearbox was ever offered.

Cabs and boxes, the strongest argument

The Classic offers regular cab with an 8-foot or 6-foot-4 box, extended cab with a 6-foot-4 box, and crew cab with a 5-foot-7 or 6-foot-4 box, in both two-wheel and four-wheel drive.

Here is the point that matters most: the fifth-generation Ram 1500 never offered a regular cab or an 8-foot box. A buyer who needs either one, to haul long equipment or construction lumber for example, has exactly two options, a 2016 to 2018 truck or a Ram 1500 Classic. That is the number one reason this pickup keeps a loyal following among tradespeople and businesses across the region.

    Trims offered in Canada

For 2019, the Canadian lineup covered ST, Tradesman, Express and SLT, plus an SSV version aimed at fleets. Warlock joined the Ram 1500 Classic that same year, as did a Canada-exclusive Express Night Edition, the direct ancestor of what buyers here casually call the Express Noire. From 2021 to 2023, the typical lineup runs Tradesman, Express, SLT and Warlock, with Night Edition and Black Express appearance variants. For 2024, it narrows to Tradesman and Warlock.

Trim names cause real confusion here. ST and SLT belong to the Classic alone. Express and Warlock, on the other hand, leave the scene when the Classic ends after 2024, then return on the new generation for 2026. A trim name by itself never tells you which platform you are looking at.

Towing and payload are two different numbers

Towing is the weight pulled behind the truck on a trailer riding on its own wheels. Payload is the weight carried by the truck itself: occupants, whatever sits in the box, and the trailer's tongue weight. The two maximums never come from the same configuration.

Towing with the V8 is rated at 4,826 kilograms, or 10,640 pounds, for 2019, roughly 4,845 kilograms, or 10,680 pounds, for 2021, and roughly 4,763 kilograms, or 10,500 pounds, for 2024. On payload, 2021 reaches up to about 871 kilograms, or 1,920 pounds, with a real-world range of roughly 1,500 to 1,920 pounds, and 2024 reaches 875 kilograms, or 1,930 pounds, with the V6 in extended cab two-wheel drive. Actual capacity depends on cab, box, drivetrain, axle ratio and towing package, so we confirm the exact figure for the specific unit.

    Rear suspension and storage

The Classic keeps the multilink rear suspension with coil springs that has been under the Ram 1500 since the 2009 model year, instead of the leaf springs used by rivals. Ram presents it as a segment exclusive, and it explains the ride quality this truck is known for, empty or loaded. The RamBox cargo management system is available as well: weatherproof, lockable, lit and drainable compartments built into the box walls, a feature that has been on the Ram 1500 since 2009. In-floor storage inside the cab rounds it out.

    Technology on board

The Classic uses the Uconnect systems of its generation, with either a 5-inch display or an 8.4-inch touchscreen depending on equipment. Here is the next check worth making: Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come only with the 8.4-inch screen, never with the 5-inch one, and that holds true even on a 2023 or 2024 Classic. Two trucks from the same year can therefore differ on CarPlay depending on the radio installed, which makes the screen the first thing to look at when you climb in. The large 12-inch vertical touchscreen and Uconnect 5 belong to the fifth generation.

On driver assistance, this generation can be equipped, depending on trim and option packages, with a rear-view camera, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and ParkSense parking assist. Content varies widely from one truck to the next and needs to be verified unit by unit.

Why the Classic stays in demand

It is the only recent Ram 1500 available as a regular cab and with an 8-foot box. Its mechanical components have been built in very high volume for years, so parts are widely available and diagnosis is familiar territory for any shop, the 5.7-litre HEMI V8 and 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 being among the most common engines in North America. The coil-spring rear suspension delivers ride comfort few work trucks match. And the range covers two very different buyers: Tradesman, Express and ST make a simple, rugged work truck, while Warlock and Black Express add a bolder look.

Around here it works on job sites and farms during the week and pulls an ATV or snowmobile trailer on weekends. In Quebec, four compliant winter tires are mandatory from December 1 to March 15.

Seven things to know before buying a used Ram 1500 Classic

    1. Confirm first that it really is a Classic: the word appears on the build sheet, the bill of sale and the VIN decode.
    2. It and the 2016 to 2018 trucks are the only Ram 1500s available as a regular cab or with an 8-foot box.
    3. Check the screen: CarPlay and Android Auto require the 8.4-inch unit, never the 5-inch one.
    4. A diesel Classic is necessarily a 2019, since the EcoDiesel was not carried over afterward.
    5. Neither the V6 nor the V8 gets eTorque here, unlike their fifth-generation counterparts.
    6. Do not mix up towing and payload, and have both figures confirmed for the specific truck.
    7. Express and Warlock return on the new generation for 2026, so only the Classic designation settles the platform question.

Frequently asked questions about the used Ram 1500 Classic

What is the difference between a Ram 1500 and a Ram 1500 Classic?

They are two distinct trucks sold side by side from 2019 to 2024. The Ram 1500 is the fifth generation, and the Classic is the previous generation kept in production, with its own frame, cab, engines and capacities.

How do I know whether the truck I am looking at is a Classic?

The word Classic appears on the build sheet, on the bill of sale and in the VIN decode. We check it with you.

Is the Classic just a trim level?

No. It is a complete vehicle built on a different platform than the Ram 1500 sold the same year.

Can I find a regular cab or an 8-foot box on a Classic?

Yes, with either the 8-foot or the 6-foot-4 box on regular cab. The fifth generation never offered either one.

Does a 2023 Ram 1500 Classic have Apple CarPlay?

Only if it has the 8.4-inch touchscreen. With the 5-inch display, CarPlay and Android Auto are not available, whatever the model year.

Was the Ram 1500 Classic offered with a diesel?

Yes, for the 2019 model year only and as a late availability, with the 3.0-litre EcoDiesel rated at 240 horsepower and 420 lb-ft. After that, only the V6 and V8 remain.

    Does the Classic have eTorque?

No. Its V6 and V8 stayed without eTorque, while that mild hybrid system appeared on the new generation back in 2019.

What is the last Ram 1500 Classic model year in Canada?

The 2024 model year, with a final allocation limited to the Warlock crew cab in four-wheel drive. There is no 2025 or 2026 Classic.

What is the difference between towing capacity and payload?

Towing is the weight pulled on a trailer riding on its own wheels. Payload is the weight carried by the truck itself, including occupants, box contents and trailer tongue weight.

How much can a Ram 1500 Classic tow?

With the V8, ratings are 10,640 pounds for 2019, about 10,680 pounds for 2021 and about 10,500 pounds for 2024, when properly equipped.

    What payload can I expect?

Up to roughly 1,920 pounds for 2021, with a real-world range of about 1,500 to 1,920 pounds, and 1,930 pounds for 2024 with the V6 in extended cab two-wheel drive.

Why do the Express and Warlock names appear on the new generation?

Both names served on the Classic first, disappeared with it after 2024, then returned on the fifth generation for 2026. ST and SLT, by contrast, remain Classic-only.

Can you service my truck and take my current one on trade?

Yes. Our shops in Sainte-Marie and Saint-Malachie have factory-trained technicians and genuine Mopar parts, and we accept your current vehicle on trade regardless of brand, which can reduce the amount subject to Quebec sales tax.
